Food (C)rave: Nishimura

There's more than SATOO at Shangri-la Hotel.
For example, try Nishimura,
one of their restaurants specialized in Japanese cuisine.
Combining traditional & modern Japanese way of cooking,
I would say Nishimura is doing pretty good here,
considering the place was packed with native Japanese,
locals, and some expats from other countries.

Currently, Nishimura is having a ramen event going on,
called Ramen Crave. Looking at their menu,
you will know that they don't usually sell ramen daily.
So, yes, the ramen is only available to be served
at Nishimura until Thursday, May 30, 2013.

Ebi Chile Ramen Spaghetti
Out of eight ramen selections that they had,
there were three names that got my attention.
Piri Kara Tori Soboro Ramen, Tomato Chicken Ramen,
and this, Ebi Chile Ramen Spaghetti.
Piri Kara Tori Soboro sounds cute catchy, right? ;)
Tomato...I think it's a unusual to use for a ramen.
Ebi Chile is unique, how can it be
a ramen and spaghetti at the same time?
After a bite, I would say the texture was very
similar to yakisoba (Japanese fried noodles).
It was very spicy (and a little bit tangy),
so if you can't handle spicy food,
you're better off with other ramen, say Piri Kara?.
Maguro Sushi Sashimi Moriawase
You can tell how fresh it is just by looking at this pic.
Japanese cuisine is always a feast for the eyes,
as well as for the taste buds.

Gyuniku Kamadaki
I wasn't really hungry when I arrived for lunch that day.
Yet, my appetite came back after a spoonful of this.
That's how good it was!
The beef was tender and juicy, and I like
how the rice turned out in the earthen pot.
Gindara Teriyaki Zen
Looks appetizing, yes?
It featured grilled codfish with teriyaki sauce.
Both sets came with appetizer (salad), chawanmushi,
pickles, miso soup, and dessert.
It will surely restore you energy back
after a power lunch like this.
One more shot of the pretty sushi!
Like any other Japanese authentic restaurants,
Nishimura also have their break time,
it's from 2 to 6 PM.
They are open from 11 AM to 10.30 PM
for lunch and dinner session.
Lunch menu and dinner menu will be somewhat different.
And yes, dinner menu is pricier than lunch. :)
Green Tea Pudding with Red Bean Paste
One of my favorite ingredient combos
were presented for dessert; matcha & azuki!
The pudding texture looked really dense, right?
But in fact, it's the other way around. :)

The azuki came in form of tsubuan.
Tsubuan is a chunky red bean paste,
made by boiling the bean in water
with addition of sugar and a little salt.
The sweet taste of the tsubuan balanced
the bitter taste of matcha pudding,
leaving your palate refreshed for the day. :)

Like a wise man once said:
Eating is not only about food,
it's also about who you're eating with.
I would like to thank Shangri-La
for being a great host for the day. :)
Thank you!

Or, in Japan, they say:
Gochisōsama-deshita!
ごちそうさまでした!
